ABOUT TORQEEDO

Torqeedo was born in a garage located off Lake Starnberg in Germany. Due to strict regulations on operating combustion engines, Gardena managers, Dr. Christoph Ballin and Dr. Friedrich Böbel began researching and experimenting with electric boat propulsion.

In 2005, Ballin and Böbel founded Torqeedo, a company set on embracing clean tech. Torqeedo became pioneers in the field of water-based electro-mobility.

Not only did experimenting with clean energy come in handy when it came to complying to combustion engine restrictions, but quickly Ballin and Böbel realized that producing and creating accessible clean energy was necessary in order to preserve the world as we know it for generations to come.

Electric motors would become increasingly important due to global population growth, the growth of the middle class around the world, limited oil reserves and the efforts to limit climate change.
